A Cozy Lake House Holiday Home Tour
The Lake House is a place of rest and relaxation, where everything is easier, more casual, and built for lots of family time. In keeping with that sentiment, we wanted our holiday decor to reflect that laid-back, cozy feel. Inspired by the ease of life on vacation with fun family traditions folded in, here’s our rendition of a holiday, lake house style.

The base layer of our holiday decor always starts with greenery; loads of it. But, with time at the lake limited, we knew we needed greenery that would last a long time. In order to keep things fresh with zero upkeep, we opted for all faux versions. The Norfolk Pine collection of garlands and wreaths from Afloral added that natural element that I love without them wilting while we are away.
The lake house is where our “fun” and “family” ornaments live. It’s all very kitsch and colorful. Every year, we each get a glass ornament that symbolizes something that happened that year. Last year was Lederhosen for our Oktoberfest trip, and this year, it was a cheeky golf bag because we picked up playing golf again. Target has fantastic fun ornaments for $5, but they sell out early in the season so be sure to snag them early. A lot of the more intricate ones (Betty White and Marie Antoinette, etc) come from this family-owned store in New Hampshire called Christmas Loft.
