A Fresh & Unexpected Hill Country Farm House
After driving 17 hours solo in her truck to meet her future clients and camp with them in their Airstream, designer Amy Pigliacampo knew there were sparks to strike up an incredible project together. The clients, photographer Harper Smith and her husband, Cameron Duddy, Midland’s base guitarist, were in the beginning phases of renovating their Hill Country farmhouse. With Amy’s expertise, they got to work on sourcing, meeting with the contractor, and creating a vision for how to turn their space into an Eclectic and unexpected family home.
Although Amy completed this project remotely, she collaborated with Harper and Cam throughout the process, sending plans back and forth, making changes, and stretching the budget to fit their needs. Together, they set out to create something truly unique and weren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to make it happen. Complete with handmade tile, a dreamy collection of mid-century furniture, and personal details to round out every vignette, this project is nothing short of inspiring. Statement-making Materials
At first glance, the kitchen in this project makes a statement with unexpected lighting choices, shapely wood elements, and plenty of material dimension. When you look closer, you can see the creative nature that went into tackling this project. Rather than opting for a pricey marble backsplash, Amy and her clients found a way to create the look with marble tiles for less and still achieve the jaw-dropping moment they were after.
Modern Eclectic Details
The thoughtful spaces in this home don’t end with the big moments and significant materials—the design plan left no detail untouched, from the layered decor to statement-making furnishings. Leather and chrome mid-century chairs add a touch of history and attitude to the music lounge room, while a mix of prints and artwork add color and personality.
Home-made Additions
In the bathroom, Terrazzo tile complements a bold grey marble vanity moment and sets the tone for the textural space. When paired with the terracotta floor tiles (handmade by the clients themselves), the cool tones of the shower and vanity feel perfectly balanced and at home. Designing a small space lends the perfect excuse to go big on the personality and dimension, and we love how this room includes multiple patterns and texture combinations to mary modern and eclectic.
