A Charming New Jersey Remodel
Today’s home tour by designer Nicole Arruda began as a full overhaul renovation in New Providence, New Jersey. When Nicole started working on this project with her clients, it was clear what direction they would take stylistically—a blend of English, contemporary, and classic. Complete with a green kitchen, a striking moody primary bath, and a charming textural nursery; this project is timeless and bold. Scroll through to step inside and see the details.

A subtle green kitchen
In the kitchen, a subdued green cabinetry color sets the tone for the space and contrasts perfectly imperfect white zellige brick tiles. Brass hardware on the cabinets ties in with brass plumbing, lighting, and small decor extras that bring this space to life. A half-open island centers the room, allowing for both counter seating space and a prep area, making the most of the kitchen’s smaller footprint. We love how Nicole paid attention to infusing texture throughout this project, and the kitchen is an excellent example of creating interest in a muted palette.
Hidden storage elements bring more function to this space. What looks like a seamless part of the kitchen’s cabinetry reveals a utility space for storing everyday essentials and even a small prep sink!
A charming pantry
A charming inset pantry adds to the kitchen’s character and provides storage space for dishware and cleaning products (hidden by an adorable sink skirt, of course). Curtain details in the doors bring an extra element of personality and can conceal what’s behind them.
The sweet & sophisticated nursery
In the nursery, a custom-fitted window seat brings function and charm, framed by robins-egg blue shelves for displaying books and toys and complete with drawer and cabinetry storage for stowing away accessories. When it comes to kid’s spaces, the little things can go a long way to add personality and character, and we love how the custom Roman shade fabric matches the window seat cushion. A woven seagrass wallpaper adds texture and sophistication, providing the perfect backdrop to grow with the child.
A chic moody primary bath
A small but chic primary bathroom brings plenty of personality where it lacks in square footage, and we love how Nicole went bold with the materials. Every detail feels equally daring and foolproof, from the timeless black and white floor tile to the moody zellige in the shower.
