A Warm and Lived-In Indiana Home Full of Heart and History
Blending family heirlooms with modern craftsmanship, designer Stephanie Wiott reimagines a lakeside home in Indiana into a warm, timeless retreat full of personal history and contemporary charm.
Set in the Promontory neighborhood of Zionsville, Indiana, this new build by Stephanie Wiott bridges old and new with effortless balance. The homeowners, longtime collectors with a love of classic design, wanted to bring their heirloom furnishings into a modern home that still felt familiar. Stephanie, known for her warm, refined approach to large-scale properties across Indiana, shaped a space where those pieces could shine in a fresh context.
Across five bedrooms and six baths, the home feels timeless yet grounded in the present. Every space reflects thoughtful layering with warm materials, tactile finishes, and a soft palette inspired by the surrounding lake and landscape.

Heritage Meets Modern Craft
Craftsmanship and comfort take center stage in this home. Warm woods, high ceilings, and tailored millwork ground the open floor plan, creating a flow that feels both refined and approachable. In the living room, Stephanie leaned into her clients’ love of color and clarity. Abstract artwork in luminous blues and greens frames the quartzite fireplace, replacing traditional built-ins. The art’s tones play against a pale blue velvet sofa and limewashed surround, adding energy and softness in equal measure.

In the dining room, moody walls and a butler’s pantry create an intimate backdrop for gatherings, while a sitting room with lush views blurs the line between indoors and out.

A Kitchen Designed for Gathering
The kitchen anchors the home as its true heart. A custom metal hood with distinctive strapping draws the eye, while a seamless quartzite backsplash climbs the wall to meet it. Around the island, family and friends naturally gather on counter stools, turning everyday routines into shared moments. Stephanie selected a maple island finished in a tarragon stain to bring warmth to the stone and metal finishes. A nearby support kitchen keeps entertaining easy, tucked just out of sight but central to how the space functions.

Comfort and Character Upstairs
Upstairs, calm tones and soft layers create an atmosphere of ease. The primary suite pairs paneled walls with textured drapery and muted green-gray hues for a quiet sense of luxury. Nearby, a butterfly-themed bedroom for little ones adds a playful twist, complete with pom-trimmed velvet curtains, embroidered details, and an adjoining bath lined in glossy green tile. The mix of color and pattern captures the homeowners’ lighthearted spirit while staying true to the home’s classic foundation.

A Playful Spin on Utility Spaces
Even the most practical rooms carry personality. The laundry and mudroom lean whimsical, finished in deep green cabinetry, brass hardware, and rose-toned stone countertops that make everyday routines feel a little more joyful.

Downstairs, an entertainer’s basement opens to a full kitchen, bar, wine cellar, gym, and guest quarters. Darker finishes, layered textures, and intimate lighting create a cozy counterpart to the light-filled spaces above—designed for long dinners, late conversations, and family weekends that linger.
