From Dated 2000s Home To Charm-Infused Country House
It’s true that design projects never happen overnight, but they often don’t happen all at once, either. Today’s home tour by designer Hayley Christian began as a kitchen and laundry room remodel for her repeat clients and evolved to most recently include the primary suite. After a successful phase one, the homeowners re-connected with Hayley to help them create a timeless and functional primary bedroom and en suite bath.
While offering plenty of square footage for possibilities, the suite included a dated coffered ceiling, a dim, cramped shower, and builder-grade materials. Pulling inspiration from the client’s love for travel and refined design, Hayley approached the project by merging innovation and practicality to transform the space into a true retreat. A Rich & Dimensional Primary Bath
One of Hayley’s goals in working with her clients was to re-create spaces that felt restored to their highest potential in form and function. The bathroom project began by stripping away the layers of outdated materials and resetting the space with a new layout and designer custom finishes.
Pairing the honed quartz countertop with dark-stained cabinets created a rich and intimate setting, while green subway tiles added a hint of color and fun. We love how Hayley reflected the reeded details on the cabinets with gold-fluted sconces on either side of the mirror to create cohesion through repeating elements in this space.
A Powder Blue Laundry
In the laundry room, the cabinets’ powder blue hue sets the tone and adds interest to the hand-formed ceramic tile and black countertops. A timeless checkerboard floor brings in contrast and nods to the client’s love for European design elements inspired by their travels. Brass hardware and lighting complete the look and some warmth to the cool-toned finish materials.
A Layered & Cozy Bedroom
Hayley completely refreshed the bedroom, replacing the dated coffered ceiling with charming painted beams to better match the farmhouse style of the home. An upholstered bed, textured wood nightstand, and custom drapery soften the room and complete the look. Carrying a cohesive palette throughout your home is a great way to achieve that “flow,” and we love how the layers and colors incorporated in this bedroom naturally reflect the en suite bath.
