The Colette Interiors team designed this small home for a pair of empty nesters who weren’t afraid to take some design risks, meticulously thinking through each detail in aesthetics and layout. A beautiful palette of natural stones, textured tiles, earthy color tones, and organic modern layers bring each space to life, resulting in a jaw-dropping and charming family home.

Where Old Meets New

A blend of old and new materials creates interest throughout the home and adds a touch of depth to the newly constructed elements. In the kitchen, the mix of old and new makes for a jaw-dropping heart of the home. Heavily veined marble isn’t going anywhere soon, and we’re all here for it — especially when highlighted by a deep wood island stain that pulls out the marble’s accents, making them even more of a statement. Woven barstools warm the room and add an extra dose of texture to this already dimensional space.

Pockets of Charm

If you ask us, the best homes all have unexpected pockets of charm that make you look twice, and no space is too small to design with intention and detail. The Colette team took this idea to heart in this home, creating magic in even the smallest utilitarian spaces. Just off the kitchen, this adorable butler’s pantry that doubles as an entertaining center is complete with all the best little luxuries — a drink fridge, beautiful custom cabinetry, and an adorable wine rack on the top for displaying favorites. A bold color choice also makes an impact, contrasting the light and bright kitchen with herringbone slate flooring and moody cabinets painted in Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore to set the tone.

Well-Rounded Warmth

A wash of warm, rosy tones creates a romantic and cozy feeling in the family living room, centered by a beautiful limestone fireplace that adds dimension and texture to the space. Mixing shapes in a furniture configuration always lends a more interesting result, and we love how the Colette team incorporated rounded pieces through the seating and table selections to soften the edges of the walls and fireplace.
