A Layered & Nostalgic Holiday Home Tour
We always love seeing how designers decorate their homes for the holidays and how each expresses their style through the extra layers of seasonal cheer. Now that we’ve officially entered the season, it’s time to share our first round of holiday home tours. First up is this beautiful retreat by designer Cathryn Lindsey in Austin, Texas. Cathryn filled her family home with holiday-spirited inspiration around every corner, and we love how these vignettes feel personal and extra cozy. Scroll on to see how Cathryn styled her holiday space and shop the look below.
Cathryn wanted to craft a holiday design that felt intimate and inviting in her home to reflect her brand’s philosophy. Her goal was to create a space that encapsulates the season’s warmth, joy, and nostalgia while maintaining a classic, elevated aesthetic. The design prioritized fresh greenery to bring the outdoors in, including garlands draped over staircases and console tables and wreaths adorning every wall. Burgundy and forest green ribbons became a signature element, tying the greenery and decor together for a cohesive, festive look. Vintage accents added layers of history and charm, while candlelight and twinkling tree lights made the space feel cozy and sophisticated.

A Cheerful Entrance
The staircase is a festive focal point in Cathryn’s home, wrapped in fresh, lush garlands adorned with burgundy and forest green velvet ribbons. The goal was to create an inviting first impression that set the tone for the rest of the home. Candlelight in this area adds an intimate glow, enhancing the warmth of the design.
Classic Motifs in the Living Room
The living room embraces a classic holiday palette with deep reds, greens, and neutral tones. Cathryn layered fresh greenery across the coffee table and bookshelves, paired with vintage pieces to add texture and interest. The Christmas tree is the centerpiece, decorated with classic ornaments and tied with ribbon accents to reflect the overall design scheme. Ambient lighting from the tree and candles contributed to a glowing, cozy atmosphere.
Creative Touches in the Kitchen
Although not heavily decorated, the kitchen and dining spaces incorporated ribbons, garlands, and wreaths, seamlessly blending with the adjacent rooms. We love Cathryn’s use of natural materials and greenery, which tied the dining area into the home’s festive narrative while still feeling practical for everyday use during the season.
