A Cozy Seattle Tudor Holiday Home
There’s something about a historic home that truly comes to life during the holidays and makes seasonal decor feel extra special. For today’s holiday home feature, we’re traveling to cozy Seattle, Washington, and stepping inside the charming family home of designer Jessica Nelson. When Jessica began renovating her classic Tudor home in 2021, she aimed to create a welcoming, timeless space that would feel extra inviting during dark winters and seasonal shifts. Her approach to decking the halls of this space leans into the home’s existing charm, embracing a traditional holiday palette, natural materials, and personal details.
If there’s a recipe for a great holiday home, it might be one part elegance, one part playful. In this home tour, you’ll find inspiration through re-imagined classics and a few kitschy details that add the fun back into the season. From hanging paper snowflakes to sometimes silly family ornaments, this home is filled to the brim with personality while still feeling elevated and understated.

Collected Details
Nostalgic details collected by Jessica and her family over the years center the spaces throughout the home. When entering the entry, a tree decorated with heirloom ornaments greets you in the primary living space. An eclectic mix of ornaments collected over generations reflects the family’s tradition of finding a new ornament each year, dating back to the couple’s childhood favorites. Velvet ribbons hung from the branches complete the look and tie each piece together.
Cozy Gathering Focal Points
Jessica’s approach to elegant holiday decor feels right at home in the cozy Tudor-style interior. An antique limestone fireplace mantel decorated with garland, ribbon, and a display of taper candles provides the perfect festive focal point in the living room. Faux wreaths hang from red velvet ribbon in the windows framing the fireplace, bringing in the traditional seasonal palette.
The Playful Family Loft
While holiday decor is typically centered around the primary spaces in the home, decking the halls of bonus areas can come with even more fun and creativity. The transformed all-purpose upstairs loft space where the family watches movies, works, and creates memories together couldn’t go without extra holiday cheer. Jessica leaned into playful, nostalgic holiday memories in this space with a tinsel-filled tree, hanging paper snowflakes, and mixed cozy textiles.
An Eclectic Festive Dining Room
Sometimes, adding a festive feeling to your surroundings means leaning into your existing palette and accentuating the space rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. In the case of this eclectic dining room, the fern-covered wallpaper feels innately holiday-centric when dressed with a few simple holiday elements. Jessica completed the space with hanging greenery, gold taper candles, and velvet ribbon, highlighting the room’s elegance.
