A Nashville Home That Honors the Past—and Makes Room for the Future
When a Nashville couple found themselves stepping into a new season of life as empty nesters, they knew their next home needed to reflect that shift—less space to maintain, more room for gathering, and a whole lot of soul.
Enter Brad Ramsey Interiors, the designer behind this 4,740-square-foot new build that feels anything but “new.” With a style inspired by the stately charm of a Chicago townhome, the architecture leans handsome and tailored—never stuffy. Think clean lines, thoughtful millwork, and a quiet confidence that sets the tone the moment you walk in the door. The goal was for the home to reflect where they’ve been and where they’re headed. It needed to function for their day-to-day but also hold space for the family to come together.

From Blank Slate to Layered Story
Over the course of three years (starting in May 2020 and wrapping in 2023 with pandemic delays), Brad worked with the couple to bring a deeply personal vision to life. The result? A home that’s elegant, relaxed, and filled with meaningful details.

The clients’ beloved antiques, collected over the years, blend seamlessly with modern comforts and performance fabrics—a must for visits from lively grandchildren. Nowhere is this blend more apparent than in the foyer, where reclaimed marble floors in a classic checkerboard pattern set a refined tone. An antique sideboard and moody painting anchor the space, all under the glow of a custom-painted Urban Electric pendant in a rich Benjamin Moore hue.
A Statement Making Kitchen
Ask Brad his favorite room, and he doesn’t hesitate: the kitchen. Alongside his clients, he spent a lot of time getting the oak cabinet tone just right, pairing it with the stone and the hood to create the perfect amount of quiet drama.
It’s the kind of space that looks good and works hard. An Urban Electric chandelier floats above, flanked by Visual Comfort sconces and cozy Vanguard counter stools that make lingering over coffee (or wine) an easy yes.

Dining Room Roots
Built around the clients’ antique dining table, the dining room feels anchored in history while still light on its feet. Hickory Chairs dressed in Perennials fabric invite long dinners, while a pair of Visual Comfort pendants provide a modern counterpoint.

An Art-filled Living Living Room
The living room had to do a lot: accommodate multiple seating configurations and act as a gallery wall of sorts for the couple’s cherished art collection. It does both beautifully and with ease, which makes the room feel as welcoming as it is refined.

One Bold Powder Room, Courtesy of the Kids
One of the home’s most unexpected moments is in the powder room—a little jewel box of sentiment. The wallpaper? A custom creation by New Hat, gifted by the couple’s children. It layers personal letters, family photos, and childhood drawings into a collage of memories to bring a unique, eclectic touch to the space.
