The Caesarstone Quartz Countertops at IDCO Lake House

As I outlined plans for our modern lake house kitchen, I really deliberated on the countertops. While we absolutely love the marble in our Austin kitchen, I’ve learned that designing a potential rental property requires asking yourself an entirely different set of questions. When push came to shove, I had some hesitations about the upkeep of natural stone in a busy lake house, so we sought out other options.

I came across Caesarstone quartz countertops early in my research process and knew they were the one. After reviewing samples, we chose a light-toned slab to run on the counters and carry up the wall as our backsplash for a seamless look. Below, I’m sharing all the details about our Caesarstone selection with a few simple care tips that have kept our counters in perfect shape.

The Caesarstone Quartz Countertops

Caesarstone Arabetto 5171

Finding the right countertop selection required tons of samples and testing. But once we decided to go with black lower cabinets, it felt natural to create some contrast with a lighter material. Eventually, we landed on Caesarstone Arabetto 5171. It features a crisp white surface with jade and copper veining and a polished finish. Our project required three slabs total, and we opted for the 3cm thickness.

I was so confident our Caesarstone quartz countertops would look amazing that we chose to run the slab up to meet our single floating shelf and as the backsplash behind our stove. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see our countertops and backsplash fully installed because our design choice looked even lovelier in person. The counters reflect so much light coming in through the windows and feel like they belonged here all along.

WHY WE CHOSE QUARTZ

Earlier I mentioned how much I love the natural patina of the marble in our Austin kitchen, but I wasn’t super confident I’d love that same patina in a rental lake house. I’m fine with my own lemon juice etches, but I knew I’d be way less fine with someone else’s red wine stains. Much like our LVP flooring, we decided to use Caesarstone quartz countertops for their easy upkeep. At the end of the day, I wanted minimal fussing and more downtime at the lake. All of this made quartz countertops an easy choice, and I LOVE the polished look within our space.

We were really impressed with Caesarstone’s customer service throughout the kitchen design process. For the most part, this renovation was completed from afar, so it gave me peace of mind to know we were working with a team who really cared about creating the most beautiful, indestructible counters.

CARE TIPS

Caring for quartz countertops has been just as easy as I’d imagined. Here are a few rules of thumb from Caesarstone that I use whenever we’re visiting the lake:

  • To clean: a splash of warm soapy water will do.
  • To keep them looking new: wipe away any liquid spills and splashes.
  • To remove stains: gently rub with a nonabrasive cleaner and rinse.

And there you have it! Seven months in, our countertops still look brand new, and we’ve had zero regrets with the decision. Long-term durability is the name of the game for our IDCO lake house, and I know these countertops will stay in great shape for years to come.
