A Fresh & Timeless 1920s Colonial Home Renovation
There’s just something about a historic renovation that honors the home’s original character — especially in the hands of Minneapolis-based interior design studio Yond Interiors. A fresh palette of earth tones, layers of cozy textures, and well-edited furnishings make this 1920s Colonial house feel like a home from the moment you walk through the door.
It’s easy to see that the team at Yond touched every detail of this project — from the finish selections to the thoughtful styling. Despite its complete renovation, the historic charm of this home shines through, creating the perfect balance of old and new.

The Layered & Intimate Living Space
An open passageway floor plan between the living and sunroom spaces provides an idyllic, intimate gathering space. If you’re familiar with Yond Interiors’ work, you’ll notice a common thread of nature-inspired palettes and finishes throughout their projects, and this room is no exception. Earthy green and gray hues, textural mohairs, linens, and wool set the tone for the remainder of the home and provide a warm welcome.
A Charming & Earthy Kitchen
The team at Yond Interiors adores nothing more than the challenge to make modern-day living work in historic homes, and this kitchen is a perfect example of how to make a 1920s Colonial feel like it’s always been there. Updated appliances, fresh cabinetry, and carefully curated furnishings make this space dinner-party-ready.
There’s nothing better than a cabinetry color that draws you in and makes you want to stay awhile, and this green-blue hue fits the bill for a neutral tone that still brings a lot of depth to the bright countertops and tile.
A Classic Midwest Sunroom
With a studio based in Mineapolis, Yond Interiors is no stranger to designing dreamy sunrooms. This space provides the ideal environment for working, catching up over breakfast, or soaking up the sun with a good book. Charming cafe curtains frame the beautiful windows, while the curved wooden table and upholstered chairs add even more warmth to the room for an inviting look and feel.
A Storybook-Like Powder Bath
An old Colonial home rarely has a main-level bath, so when it does, why not dress it up with the sweetest wallpaper you can find? This printed white and blue paper reminiscent of European cities is a nod to the client’s past adventures and feels right at home paired with a standing brass vanity.
