A New Build Rooted In 19th Century History

When design firm Peach & Pine received an inquiry from their clients in the early stages of planning their forever family home to build a new home that felt historic, they were excited about the challenge. Though the goal was to design a home reminiscent of the late 19th century Colonial Revival, the house contains all the modern amenities of new construction and modern family living.

Taking cues from the designs of the past, the team created a home that feels rooted in rich history, filled with classic colors, historic wallpaper patterns, trim details, rich wood tones, and a mix of old and new furnishings—many of which are heirlooms from our clients’ families.

The team at Peach & Pine worked with the clients, builder, and architect from the early planning stage through furnishing and completion to tweak the layout, specify all colors, finishes, and details, and furnish the project with a mixture of new pieces and heirloom pieces provided by the client.
The result proves that new construction and historic homes don’t have to be opposites and that it’s possible to create homes that seamlessly blend the old and new. Scroll on to see more from this beautiful project and shop the look!

Romance In The Dining Room

A romantic Bosphorus Iksel Mural welcomes you into the home and sets the tone for the dining room. The Peach and Pine team paired the mural with beautiful trim work painted in a chameleon shade of green using Pigeon by Farrow and Ball. Although a new piece, the cherry dining table feels inspired by the past with beautifully carved details and simple, tapered legs. French antique dining chairs sourced from Chairish balance the more modern slipcovered head chairs.

A Soul-Filled Kitchen

If the kitchen is the heart of the home, this one certainly has a lot of soul. Featuring beautiful curved counter stools, quartzite countertops on the island, honed Negresco granite on the perimeter, and charming pendant lights, each element works together to create the perfect balance between form and function.

The Collected Living Room

In the living room, a collection of furnishings pulled from many eras and styles brings a time-honored feeling — from the old chipped table serving as a desk behind the new performance fabric sofa to the floral printed armchair next to her more masculine leather counterpart.
