A Relaxed Contemporary Austin Home

The secret about homes that feel curated, chic, and effortless is that they are hardly effortless at all, and designer Jenna Barton is a master in achieving that luxurious yet relaxed look with each of her projects. Jenna and her team touched every detail of this Austin Texas home, bringing on with them Architect Ryan Rosenberg to help them bring their client’s vision to life from the ground up. The result is filled with a blend of style influences, old and new pieces, and designer details that will have you zooming in on every photo to see more.

We’ve always had a thing for relaxed contemporary designs, and this project checks all of the boxes with a mix of fresh, bold, and inviting materials. From the moody Calacatta Viola Marble to the grasscloth-covered playroom, each element in this home has us swooning for more.

An Inviting & Layered Living Space

In the living room, wooden shelves and cabinetry stained to match the ceiling beams flank a limestone fireplace, bringing the perfect focal point to the open-concept space. Calming views through the windows inspire the furnishings — a woven jute rug, a rustic wooden coffee table, and cozy seating to host friends and family. Jenna has a knack for styling her projects to feel intentional but effortless, and we love how every detail in this room compliments the design and architecture without distracting from the serene palette.

The Bold & Cozy Kitchen

Working around the restraints of a space that requires as much utility as the kitchen always means getting creative when pushing a design in a new direction. In this case, warm wood tones, a relaxed linen shade, and carefully placed shelving soften the sharp lines of the cabinetry and make this design feel equal parts fresh and cozy.

Jenna’s client loved bold stones, and after looking around countless slab yards around Austin to find the perfect source, they came across the Calacatta Viola Marble and immediately knew it was the winner. The sculptural pennants above the island were made by an artist local to the clients’ hometown, adding an unexpected element to complete the space.

A Chic & Textural Playroom

While a neutral grasscloth wallpaper might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of wall coverings for a playroom, this space makes a case for warm textural walls in just about any room. Floating wooden shelves blend right in to display an array of toys, books, and decor, and two pendant lights add an extra element of charm. Who said a room created for lounging and playtime can’t be chic?
