Inside Baby Kamryn’s Nursery Design
Designing our nursery for baby Kamryn was a dream come true, and it’s been such a joy to share this space with her since bringing her home. Because this room feels so personal to our family, it’s quickly becoming our favorite spot in the house. Inspired by a romantic yet timeless vision, we filled this space with mixed patterns, playful details, and storied vintage accents.
I have been scheming plans for this room since we got the news of our pregnancy. Before we knew if we were having a boy or a girl, I had a clear vision for the nursery — whimsical, sophisticated, and ultra-cozy. It’s fun looking back at the initial images we saved and fabrics we pulled to see how our inspiration evolved and found its way into the existing space. Today, we’re sharing the full reveal and taking you through more of the design process.

The Jumping Off Point
When planning for the nursery design, we knew we’d start with the existing finishes of the yellow bedroom in our home. As the open bedroom with the best space and storage, it made the most sense to grow into. The room’s existing yellow wallpaper served as a pretty, gender-neutral foundation and a great jumping-off point. Because this room already had an existing bed, we knew it would function well for our family as a space for guests and eventually a larger kid room.

The Fabric Selections
Once we found out we were having a girl, we started pulling softer, more romantic prints and fabrics as options. Upholstery fabrics were some of the first elements we decided on. Florals and stripes were an obvious choice for us in keeping with our English Tudor-style home. I instantly fell in love with this darling daisy print and the sweet yellow floral print by Lulie Wallace that we incorporated into the window treatments and bedding. We layered in ruffled rainbow linen bedding to add a playful, whimsical element and bring in a bit more color.

The Pieces
When choosing the larger pieces for the space, we wanted to ensure they would feel timeless and grow with her as she got older. We left the queen-size Jenny Lind bed for guests when needed and added a matching hand-me-down brass crib gifted to us by our friends. The vintage feeling of the beds provided a great starting point, pairing perfectly with a vintage dresser and our cozy slip-covered glider chair.

The Details
Styling the details is always my favorite part of any project, and Kamryn’s nursery was no exception. I knew I had to incorporate this pretty textural lamp from Monique Lhuillier’s recent Pottery Barn Kids collection, which paired well with the oversized lamps that feel like art made from reclaimed coconut shells on the nightstands. A vintage mid-century paper collage sets the tone when you walk into the room, tying into the blue upholstery fabric accents on the bedding and windows.
