Echoing the notion that everything old is new again, trends inevitably circle back, and the resurgence of silver in interior design is no exception. In January, we noted silver’s sharp comeback amidst the 2024 design movements, cropping up everywhere, from fine jewelry to home decor. But this time around, designers are reclaiming silver with a fresh perspective, using it to contrast warm neutrals and muddy earth tones for interesting moments of visual tension.

Like any metal, silver is nuanced. Shiny chrome, polished nickel, antique pewter, and a whole realm of finishes can take silver in different directions. Its versatility is evident by how effortlessly it pairs with opposing design genres, from sleek modernism to traditional elegance.

All of this is not to say that brass is out—not by a long shot. But seeing designers expand into cooler metal palettes feels like a long-awaited breath of fresh air. Scroll on to view our favorite iterations of silver and shop a range of seating, lighting, and decor to recreate the look.
