The Best Designer Nightstands
Since we decided to rent our old house furnished on Vrbo, I suddenly found myself searching to fill in a few gaps. One of the hardest things to find were great nightstands. We moved my favorites over to The Tudor, but needed beautiful, quality, durable and affordable designer nightstands for the rental. Down the rabbit hole I went and ended up going with these and these. I also brought this pair of designer nightstands to the new house, and ordered these spindle leg ones for the fourth bedroom. To be honest, this nightstand was one of the first “grown up” pieces of furniture I ever bought, and it still looks brand new. I’m so, so glad I invested in these nightstands years ago.

4 Tips for Sourcing Great Nightstands with a Designer Look
- As always, scale is key. As a general rule of thumb your nightstand should be between 25-35% of the width of your bed to feel balanced. Obviously, if you’re working in tight quarters, a petite nightstand is still better than no nightstand.
- Check the height. I personally prefer a night stand’s surface to not sit lower than the mattress, in order to prevent your pillow from knocking over a water glass.
- Materials matter. As with any investment piece in your home, focusing on natural materials will make for higher quality. From solid wood to stone or even woven elements, natural finishes will remain timeless.
- Consider storage. Look for nightstands with a small drawer or pull out shelf. Even a small lower shelf allows for proper storage of personal items when corralled in a basket.
