A Timeless Tudor Holiday Home Tour
The moment we laid eyes on The Austin Tudor, we just knew it was meant to be a Christmas Home. The traditional Tudor style architecture, the formal entertaining rooms, the open staircase entrance just begging for a garland — Transforming these spaces for the holidays was effortless.

For the very first Christmas in our newly renovated home, I wanted to embrace the English country meets Texas hill-country beauty of The Austin Tudor. Think edited and timeless using elements like fresh greenery, velvet ribbon, and vintage silver-plated serving pieces.
Timeless Magnolia Leaves
As in years past, I chose a single design element to focus on and carried that throughout the home, creating a sense of cohesion. I’m a big believer in simple, refined details that make holiday decorating easy and never over-the-top or too kitschy. This year, the star of the show was Magnolia. We worked with our favorite, Gracious Garlands, using their gorgeous Magnolia and Leyland Cypress Garlands and Wreaths. I highlighted these with the prettiest peach velvet ribbon, whose terracotta hues complimented the burgundy and brown undertones of the Magnolia leaves perfectly.
Creating Visual Balance
My main priority was balancing out the green palette that already existed in the house, so we draped garland over the kitchen windows to counter the cabinets on the other side. We draped magnolia garland along the credenza under the TV to balance the Christmas tree on our asymmetrical fireplace, and instead of putting the garland swagging on the stair railing, we installed it taught along the bottom, drawing your eye up to the second story.
A Simple, Festive Touch
A no-fail decorative element that I swear by is seasonal greenery. Throughout the rest of the home, I incorporated short pieces of garland draped over bathroom mirrors, headboards, and footboards in the guest room. This simple touch truly takes just a few minutes to install and dresses up every room!
