Thoughtful Details Revived This PNW Dutch Colonial
Nestled in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, this Dutch Colonial home built in 1927 was born from the client’s love of heirloom pieces and custom furnishings. After years as a regular at Maison Luxe’s former retail shop in the Madison Valley neighborhood, the homeowner turned to Kelie and her firm for help with their interior renovation. Working to refresh the color palette and fill the home with all new furnishings, Maison Luxe helped create a timeless, charm-filled retreat.
In honoring the original character of the traditional 1927 interior, Kelie carefully selected details to bring a refreshed yet storied feeling to each room. Incorporating beautiful, simple materials and a tight color palette allowed every space to feel like a continuation of the one before, creating a natural flow. Read on to see how Kelie intentionally curated each detail to bring this home to life.

Dimension & Whimsy in The Living Room
Careful re-furnishings and styling details in the living room add charm and dimension to the space. Tasked with updating every detail of this living room, Kelie and her team chose lighting and beautifully crafted pieces to give the room life for years to come. A custom George Smith sofa upholstered in Gregorius Pineo mohair and a Holland & Sherry rug ground the design, while a Holly Hunt coffee table centers the space and brings balance. Collected vintage details, like the hutch filled with a beautiful seashell and coral collection, add a sense of personality and whimsy.

Playful Sophistication in The Dining Room
The dining room departs from the living space’s light and minimal palette with a wash of color and pattern. House of Hackney’s “Plantasia” sets the mood, and wall treatments painted in French Grey by Farrow & Ball complement the tones. A contemporary light fixture and a BDDW sideboard contrast the traditional finish selections, and custom cozy seating invites guests to stay awhile.

A Storied Kitchen
A welcoming, cozy kitchen echoes the home’s Dutch colonial history, with timeless details around every corner. Kellie and her team intentionally updated the existing kitchen to accommodate the family and better reflect the home’s aesthetic direction. Without replacing each cabinet, the design feels fresh with new with rebuilt tall pantry cabinets and new paint on the existing kitchen cabinets. Brass lighting and hardware by Devol and new Calacatta Gold countertops elevate the look, while updated plumbing pays homage to the home’s history.
